Bram Bakker: Running or swallowing pills?

The gym as a solution for mental problems? Sounds weird maybe, but body and mind are connected and physical exercise can be a healthy treatment. Bram Bakker is a psychiatrist who is not afraid to voice controversial opinions. In his many books and columns he questions conventional therapies for fear, depression or stress. In the case of mild depressions he favors for instance therapeutic running to swallowing pills.

Dr. Bram Bakker is psychiatrist, writer and runner. He is chair of the Mental Health Foundation, organizing the Depression Gala, and director at Sitagre, a centre for psyche and health. He toured the theatres with the performance Geen Paniek with cabaretier Marjolijn van Kooten. He published among other books Running therapie, Geluk uit een potje and Over seks gesproken.
