VISUAL SCIENCE COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP

On 3rd December 2025, our Postdoc Network recently hosted a workshop given by Tatiana Soto Montero at the University of Twente on visual science communication — and it was a great reminder that how we share our work matters just as much as the work itself.

Participants came in already aware of how essential strong visual communication skills are. What truly stood out was their eagerness to learn how to make their research more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable, whether speaking to experts or reaching a broader audience.

The workshop highlighted practical tips and raised awareness about visual aspects of science communication that are often overlooked. It's inspiring to see so much enthusiasm for presenting complex ideas in clear, compelling ways.

Here’s to more conversations, more clarity, and more impact!

Thanks to Tatiana and all the participants for the interest!

POSTDOC NETWORK GENERAL ASSEMBLY

We’re thrilled to share that on Monday, 2nd June 2025, the first General Assembly (GA) of the Postdoc Network of the University of Twente (PDN-UT) has officially taken place!

This GA was marked by the election of our very first board, a major step toward creating a strong, united voice for postdoctoral researchers across all faculties of the University of Twente.

Meet the Elected Board for the year 2025-2026:
• Chair: Vasileios Trikalitis
• Vice Chair: Efi Nakopoulou
• Secretary: Elinor Meredith
• Treasurer: Pierre Lechifflart
• Support Member: Nuno Araújo-Gomes

During the GA, we established the main purposes, direction, and future initiatives of the network. From advocating for postdocs’ interests to fostering collaboration and professional development, the PD UT is taking shape.
The first task for the newly elected board:
• Develop a detailed work plan for the year
• Register the network as an official association
• Present this plan to all members and the Faculty Board

We’re excited to shape a more connected and empowered future for postdocs at UT!

Grant Writing Workshop

On 23rd March 2025, we successfully hosted the very first edition of our grant writing workshop at the University of Twente!

Throughout the session, we had engaging and insightful discussions with our speakers, gaining valuable tips, strategies, and a deeper understanding of the grant writing process.

A big shoutout to Elke Warmerdam and Faeze Khalighi for their outstanding work in organizing this inaugural event, and heartfelt thanks to our wonderful speakers — Murtiti (Tia) den Hartog, Mart Deterd, Guillaume Lajoinie, Ashkan Ghanbarzadeh-Degheyan, and Alexis Wolfel S— for sharing their expertise and experiences so generously and interactively.
