Panel discussion: Best practices in gender management chaired by Joy Clancy


Joy Clancy, CSTM, is Associate Professor in technology transfer. Her research is focused on small scale energy systems for developing countries, and the role that energy plays as an input for small businesses. Gender is been an important factor addressed in her research.


Yvonne Benschop is Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Nijmegen School of Management, affiliated with the Institute for Gender Studies at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. She is ‘born and bred’ at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, as she holds Masters degrees in Political Science and in Administration and Policy Sciences, and obtained her Ph.D. in Policy Sciences from the University of Nijmegen in 1996. Her dissertation examined the gender subtext of the Dutch banking sector. Her main inspirations are feminist organization studies and critical management studies. Current research interests include the organizational changes brought about by gender mainstreaming and the gendering dynamics of networking and impression management. She is an associate editor of Gender, Work and Organization and serves on the editorial boards of Scandinavian Journal of Management, International Sociology, the Dutch Journal of Gender Studies and Equal Opportunities International. Publications in English include articles in Organization Studies, Accounting, Organization and Society, The International Journal of Human Resource Management and Gender, Work and Organization.


Edith Snoey is the chairwoman of the ABVAKABO FNV since 2005. Besides, she has experience as member of the management or supervisory board of HIVOS, Adviesbureau Altersum, ABP and GBIO.


Wouke Lam is Programme Manager at Shell International. She joined Shell in 1984. She has spent her career in a wide-ranging array of roles in the IT sector. Currently she is the Head of the Programme Management Office for the Infrastructure Sourcing Programme. She is an active member of Shell’s IT Diversity & Inclusiveness Council.



Hans E. Roosendaal is professor for Strategic Management at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His specialisation is in strategic knowledge and information management. Educated as a physicist he joined 1974 the University of Bielefeld (Germany) as faculty staff. Between 1983 and 1998 he served Elsevier Science in various management positions as publisher and in corporate strategy and acquisitions. He joined the University of Twente in 1998 as Chief Information Officer. He also served as member of the Executive Board of the University of Twente. He has authored journal articles both on surface physics and on scientific information and has co-authored a book on surface physics. The articles on scientific information are in particular focused on strategic aspects of the transformation from a paper to a digital environment. Hans Roosendaal is chairman of the Foundation www.natuurkunde.nl, a foundation supported by the entire Dutch physics community with the aim to make physics more attractive to young people. To this end the Foundation operates a website.He served on a number of evaluation committees on digital libraries, e-science and e-learning and is since 2004 a member of the BMBF standing evaluation committee on D-Grid. Since 2006 he is a member of the Standing Accreditation Committee of the Zentrale Evaluations- und Akkreditierungsagentur, Hannover, Germany. He is presently chairman of the ZEvA Evaluation Committee of the Institutional Evaluation of the TU Braunschweig.
