Dear colleagues,

The Female Faculty Network Twente (FFNT)

is pleased to invite you to the 10th anniversary international conference:

‘‘Advantages of an inclusive university: science and gender nexus’

on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 9.30 till 17.00 hrs.

Vrijhof building (Amphitheater) at the University of Twente

Key-note speaker:

Prof. Sandra Harding (University of California Los Angeles, USA)

Some ten years ago some women working at the University of Twente shared experiences and wondered why are there only so few of us working at the UT and why are there still less women present the closer one comes to the top of the University? The FFNT was born. We are a network for female academics at the University of Twente. Our key objectives k since 2005 have been to create a network where academic women can meet and exchange ideas and experiences; to provide female faculty with professional training; to raise awareness about female faculty issues; and to monitor the implementation of female faculty-friendly measures at the UT. We believe female academic leadership and the culture of inclusiveness are very important for diverse organization such as university.

The aim of this anniversary conference is to create awareness about the importance of gender in academic science, especially in the context of an inclusive university. We especially focus on good practices and bottlenecks of science and gender nexus at technological universities.

The morning program will feature Prof. Harding’s talk on Objectivity for Sciences from Below followed by the discussant Prof. Kuhlmann from University of Twente. Further, the results of 2015 FFNT survey will be presented by the FFNT Chair Prof. Leisyte.

After lunch we invite you to join one of the two workshops: 1. Applying for research funding and 2. Academic leadership and gender. The conference closes with a panel discussion including our guest prof. Harding as well as HR Director Drs. Duijnstee , Member of the UT Ambassador’s Network Prof. Millar, and the recent Opzij Award winner Prof. Evers. The discussion will be moderated by the FFNT Board member Prof. Saharso. The discussion will be followed by a reception. The full program can be found here.
