Pushing the Boundaries of Ontology: Our Team Leads FOIS 2025 with Three Accepted Papers!

We’re excited to share that our research group together with the Laboratory for Applied Ontology (LOA) in Italy are the only two groups with three papers accepted at FOIS 2025 – the 15th International Conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems!

Why this matters:

  • FOIS is one of the premier venues for formal ontology, attracting leading researchers worldwide.
  • Having three papers accepted is a significant recognition of the depth, diversity, and impact of our work in foundational and applied ontology.

Our accepted contributions cover:

  1. An Ontological Lens on Attack Trees: Toward Adequacy and Interoperability
  2. Ontology-Driven Software Development: Generating Java Code from OntoUML Models
  3. The Soberana Ontology: Modeling Business Ecosystems for International Data Spaces

Congratulations to all co-authors and collaborators Ítalo Oliveira Giancarlo Guizzardi Luis Ferreira Pires João Luiz Rebelo Moreira

We’re looking forward to attending and connecting at FOIS 2025 in Catania this September.
