Kamran, a PhD student at Pervasive Systems Group, has presented his work titled "Optimizing QoS in Wireless IoT Networks: A Cross-Layer based Experimental Study" in IEEE CAMAD 2024, held in Athens, Greece.
The work highlights a novel method for identifying the intricate relationships between different layer parameters of the OSI stack to subsequently exploit them to develop reliable QoS in IoT networks. It uses the concept of mutual information between parameters based on network statistical data and then employs entropy reduction methods to determine the causality of the determined relationships. They proposed a cross-layer design-based architecture to deploy their solution in real-world IoT networks.
