Faculty Council EEMCS

The Faculty Council is a decentral participatory body representing both employees and students. The council has a say in faculty-specific policy and decision-making.

The Faculty Council (FC) serves as a representative body for both students and employees within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS). Working alongside the Faculty Board, the Council plays a key role in ensuring transparent, inclusive, and effective governance of the faculty. As an independent and critical entity, the Faculty Council is not afraid to challenge decisions, take on the role of devil’s advocate, and foster open discussions to consider a variety of perspectives. The Faculty Council consists of both students and employees, reflecting the shared responsibility for the faculty’s development and well-being.

The Faculty Council provides advice or grants formal approval to the Faculty Board on important matters, depending on the issue at hand. It offers guidance to the management team in areas such as research, education, and finance, and holds the right to consent on specific issues. In practice, the Council defends the interests of both staff and students within the Faculty. Generally, the council consists of eight staff and eight student members.
