Madeleine Christin Leroy

Madeleine Christin Leroy is a German artist who will stay a few months in a studio in Enschede and make works there that she will show in this exhibition.

Madeleine works often with big blow ups, balloons as art. As a sculpture in the room or worn by hardly visible people. Or what to say from drainage pipes formed into a sculpture such that it could come alive…?

Madeleine Christin Leroy about here work

“My art is a constant investigation of everyday materials in the context of conventions which I then challenge. By examining their ambiguity and origination via retakes and variations, I want the viewer to become part of the art as a kind of added component. Combined with subtle details of odd eccentric, or humoristic elements I create situations and break the passivity of the spectator by giving different angles of interpretation. Also the title as itself becomes important in my work.”

Her intended project during stay at the ARE studio’s

Madeleine  would like to go ahead with her work which deals with balloons. This time she will be working with the photos she made from balloons (twisted, bonded, knotted) and print them on plexiglass. So they become a part of her installations as a 3D object by putting several  prints together and combine them with other materials like metal, textile or latex.

The opening in presence of Madeleine Christin Leroy will take place on Monday 2 December at 16.30.
