Waste in the Window Elze van den Akker / Pou-Belle-Design

As Pou-Belle Design artist Elze van den Akker makes art and design from plastic trash. A bottle-cap becomes a button, a plastic bottle a vase and with plastic bags you can make the most beautiful illustrations.

Her mission: Let’s make the plastic that is already here and, as we know, is going to be around close to forever, as precious and irresistible as possible. So that at least it is treasured and doesn’t end up in the ocean. She collects the trash from the street herself or gets it from people who support her mission. Her work did not go unnoticed. It appeared in many magazines and Elze was followed by Dutch television for half a year. Her concept won the Ernst&Young Sustainable Entrepreneur Award and her BottlecapButtons won the Sustainable Design Battle from platform Voor De Wereld Van Morgen (For Tomorrows World) by the ASN bank.

WORKSHOPs

Following this exhibition in the showcases of the Spiegel building, two workshops will be given by Elze van den Akker from Pou-Belle Design: on Tuesday 23 April and Tuesday 30 April.
