During my studies in Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, I developed an interest in social and political theory as well as a preference for qualitative methods, owing to their rich and contextual character. A major task during my internship at the Öko-Institut in Berlin was to produce an overview of forest policies from the UN level down to the German Länder. I completed a Bachelor’s thesis on EU chemicals governance and a Master’s thesis dealing with the impact of modernity on individual patterns of practice, which earned me the degree of Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, specialized in Environmental policy and management, in 2012. As such, my academic education exhibits my interest in policy backgrounds as well as the everyday lives of people.
