NanoNextNL is a large consortium which funds research in micro- and nanotechnology in the Netherlands. Next to fundamental and application driven research, NanoNextNL attaches importance to Risk Analysis and Technology Assessment (RATA), especially at the PhD level.
The goal of this project is to create an overview of a variety of existing tools applied in (constructive) technology assessment ((C)TA) and beyond, towards a sort of “toolbox”.
This (C)TA toolbox aims at assisting technical scientists who are interested in applying TA activities to their research, but are not sure which methods they could use. By creating a systematic overview of various (C)TA methods we aim to help clarifying which approaches could be employed for a certain project and what is feasible. Next to information from the literature, we draw on experience with (C)TA tools which are applied in a concise format or by technical scientists themselves in the frame of NanoNextNL and previous programs (e.g., NanoNed). Additionally, approaches can be tested together with (NanoNextNL) researchers and PhD students on their projects.
