Module 11: Philosophy of Technology, Design, and Society
The RESTS content for module 11 is integrated into a course on Electrical Systems Design and Prototyping in which student teams design and prototype a wearable device. The RESTS content focuses on the philosophy and social practice of design, including the design thinking process and social science methods for design and user research. The course explores design as a key link between science and society and aims to help students understand the role of technology in society, user diversity and agency, and questions of ethics and justice.
