module 3: Analyzing technology in society
This course addresses three main themes: the social shaping of technology; risks and responsibilities; and technology assessment. The learning objectives are twofold. First, students learn concepts and theories that enable them to understand specific technological developments and their social implementation. Second, students learn to use concepts and theories in order to analyze patterns of technological development in specific situations.
module 8: Knowledge production
Students work on the engineering and management of the development and commercialization of a complex technological system. Integrated in this module are analyses of the organization and the dynamics of the knowledge produced in the design of a technological system, and students develop a scenario to assess the societal embedding of the technological system.
