The assignment |
As Research and Innovation department of Roessingh, Center for Rehabilitation, RRD provides scientific research on innovative healthcare technology with an end-user focus. For RRD, co-creation with end-users and stakeholders is key to ensure that the innovation meets user needs and fits the healthcare context. This to ensure that technology is actually and optimally used and contributes to sustainable healthcare. Our expertise for user-oriented health technology focuses on rehabilitation and healthy ageing. The following 4 projects we have available as internship / Master's assignment: Project 1 – Future Glove: Within this project we developed a wearable robotic glove for hand impaired patients. At this moment we are evaluating the added value of this glove in a home study (single case experimental designs = SCED). This assignment consist of coordinating the study with 3 patients at the same time and performing the clinical test (pre-test / post-test / follow-up). Project 2 – Thumps-up: The aim of this project is the further development and scale-up the working prototype of the T-GRIP hand exoskeleton. To deliver the necessary documentation for MDR certification we need to test this device with the target population (Patient with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)). This assignment starts with all preparation needed to start this study in September 2025. Such as writing the test protocol and patient information letter. Project 3 - Are GPs and next of kin sufficiently supported by the current guideline during the process of palliative sedation in ALS patients on NIV. Amyotrofic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neuromuscular disease with a downward slope. Respiratory insufficiency is the commonest cause of death. This project is part of PhD project of an Rehabilitation Physician working at Roessingh. This assignment consist of all necessary preparation to start this study and answer the research question. Project 4 - Are single case experimental designs (SCED) the solution to properly assess the safety and effectiveness of Virtual Reality games developed for healthcare? Within this project we want to prepare and start a SCED to asses the effectiveness of a VR application to improve peoples’ lifestyle by means of High Intensity interval training (HIIT) and Approach Avoidance Task (AAT). This assignment starts with all preparation needed to start this study. Such as writing the test protocol and patient information letter. This assignment is suitable for a non Dutch speaking student. All project can start as internship and be continued as Master’s assignment. |
