The assignment |
In an interdisciplinary team (medicine, psychology, computer science), we conduct neuroscientific research to better understand the development, course, maintenance and treatment of mental illness. Our research bridges fundamental research and clinical intervention studies. To this end, we conduct studies with those affected, their relatives and people without mental illness. The core idea of our institute is to provide a common “backbone” for the various studies so that data from different studies can be analyzed together, replication/validation can be enabled and the significance of the results can be strengthened. To carry out these studies, we rely on the diligent support of students who work at our institute as part of internships and final theses (M.Sc./B.Sc.).. You are welcome to complete your mandatory internship with us (minimum of 360 hours, spread over 3 months or longer). Our institute is characterized by very good, structured and close supervision of theses and internships. We offer regular training courses for our interns. This includes, for example, courses on structured clinical diagnostics, e.g., with the SKID interview, as well as theoretical and practical seminars on the evaluation of MRI data. In addition, there is a bi-weekly colloquium where further information is provided and you also have the opportunity to present your thesis and get feedback from our large, interdisciplinary team. Throughout your thesis, you will have a permanent contact person who will provide you with advice and support and help you with any difficulties. We are looking for motivated, flexible students, who are willing to actively work in an interdisciplinary team, learning about large studies, MRI, neuropsychological testing and diagnostics. As all of our participants and patients are German, a minimum language proficiency of C2 in German is required. We offer a young, lively and interdisciplinary working group of psychologists, physicians and computer scientists, very good and close supervision, patient- and application-oriented research using neurobiological and psychological measures, training and instruction in the independent diagnosis of psychiatric patients using the structured clinical interview and other clinical measurement instruments, instruction in the evaluation of structural and functional MRI data.
