Description of Assignment

Trajectum (https://www.trajectum.nl/ ) offers specialized treatment and guidance to people with mild intellectual disabilities in combination with misunderstood or risky behavior. Some of the clients have a forensic background. Within Trajectum there is room for a thesis research.

This research focuses on the relationship between the living environment as experienced by clients (measured by an existing questionnaire) and internalizing risk factors such as stress complaints and mood-related problems (measured by another questionnaire filled out by therapists).

The study is a substantive follow-up to earlier work (see: ), in which data on internalizing risk factors were not yet available. These data are now available and ready for analysis.

You will start with an in-depth literature review to substantiate theoretically and empirically which internalizing risk factors may be related to the living environment experienced by clients. This exploration also forms the basis for the background and introduction of your thesis. Together with the external supervisor, you determine which analyses are appropriate and how, for example, missing data will be handled. You will carry out these analyses, incorporate the results clearly in tables and graphs, and gain experience in interpreting findings academically and discussing them in a scientific discussion.

The aim is to develop this research into a scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal. We are therefore preferably looking for a student with a clear affinity for statistics and research methodology, and who enjoys delving further into these areas.

We are looking for a student who likes to reflect on his or her choices, is open to feedback, and is motivated to learn. You will join an engaged team that provides a safe learning environment, where mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities. As such, this assignment offers valuable preparation for a career in research or policy.
