Description of Assignment |
Mapping Effective Elements of Mental Health App Interventions What elements drive improvement in the treatment of anxiety and depression? In a previous study, we investigated the effectiveness of 34 therapeutic elements (e.g., psychoeducation, relaxation, mindfulness, self-monitoring, exposure, and cognitive defusion) delivered via mobile apps. That study synthesized data from over 100 articles published up to 2024 using a meta-analytical framework. We now aim to expand these findings by incorporating studies published through December 2025 and to examine specific features that may modulate treatment effects. For instance, do VR-based interventions enhance the effectiveness of exposure techniques? Does integrating peer-support features improve adherence to treatment? These are just some of the many questions this internship will help address. What We Offer We are looking for students interested in pursuing an academic career. Your day-to-day work will center on archival tasks: identifying, extracting, and tabulating relevant information from articles previously selected for this project. We expect a strong eye for detail, sustained focus, and the ability to record information accurately. You will collaborate closely with fellow students and the project supervisor, so good communication skills and a professional attitude are essential. This internship is especially valuable if you are considering pursuing a PhD. Extracting and tabulating data for a systematic review or meta-analysis is often the first step in a doctoral journey, and this project offers a hands-on opportunity to build that experience. We will also support you in developing one of your ideas into a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. Depending on your level of motivation and contribution, you may be listed as first author, a strong addition to your CV and future PhD applications |
