Personalizing the use of technology in forensic care: Assist in ongoing research |
Organisation Transfore (Dimence Groep) / Psychology, Health & Technology (University of Twente) |
Location Deventer |
Period of internship November - February |
Description of Assignment |
This internship takes place at Transfore, a mental healthcare organization focused on forensic care. In collaboration with University of Twente, we are researching how we can personalize the use of technology in forensic treatments: what works for which patient? Technologies such as wearables, VR, and mobile apps offer opportunities to improve the outpatient treatment of forensic psychiatric patients. However, not every technology works equally well for every patient. For example, wearables are often less suitable for patients with limited insight into their problems, online modules are not well applicable for patients with low-literacy, and treatment motivation seems to play a major role in the use of mobile apps. The aim of our project is to gain more insight into the factors that determine which types of technological interventions fit with individual patients (personalization factors). With this knowledge, we will eventually co-design a shared-decision making tool that a patient and professional can use to choose the most suitable technology together. You will be part of this ongoing research, and assist in a literature review and/or in setting up and conducting semi-structured interviews. The literature review is an update of an earlier review. It will focus on which technologies are currently described in research on forensic care, and which factors play a role in their effectiveness. You would be involved in the selection of relevant articles and in producing an overview of technologies and personalization factors. Furthermore, interviews will take place with professionals, patients and experience experts, and researchers in the field, and will focus on personalization factors for different types of technologies based on the produced overview of relevant technologies as well as personas of forensic patients. Here, you would be involved in preparing and conducting (some of) the interviews and developing the diverse personas. Practical information: We offer you a pleasant working environment at Transfore in Deventer in an enthusiastic team, and the possibility to actively take part in research activities. Fluency in Dutch is helpful but not essential. |
