PROCEDURE MASTER

Coördinator: dr. Jorge Piano Simoes (j.pianosimoes@utwente.nl
Study Advisor: Studieadviseur-MPS@utwente.nl

On this website you will find the list of available master thesis assignments offered by the specialization Positive Clinical Psychology and Technology. Here are the steps if you choose an assignment in the Positive Clinical Psychology and Technology (PCPT) track:

Step 1

Select which number of ECs applies to your situation. For students from the current cohort: 14 EC (standard thesis with 19 EC clinical internship) or 23 EC (large thesis with 10 EC research or educational internship). For students from previous cohorts: 10 EC (standard thesis with 20 EC clinical internship) or 30 EC (large thesis without an internship). In case you want to pursue a clinical internship, but have no confirmation yet, we recommend choosing the standard 14 EC thesis option. You can discuss the most recent status of your internship situation during the first meeting with your supervisor and discuss how to extend the thesis to 23 EC if necessary.

Step 2

Make a top five of your options for assignments with a maximum of 2 options per method stream. These streams are:

  1. Intensive Longitudinal Methods
  2. Literature Review
  3. Qualitative research
  4. Text mining

So, for example you can choose 2 assignments from stream 1, 2 from stream 4 and 2 from stream 5. Or you can choose 2 assignments from stream 1, and 1 from streams 2, 3, 4, and 5. Students from older cohorts who have to do a 10/30 EC thesis can select the 14/23 EC equivalent and inform their supervisors during the first thesis meeting that they are following the old program.

From 27 October – 2 November, 2025, you can fill in the online registration form (link below) and specify your five options.

Step 3

You will receive an e-mail about the assignment you can start with, and the supervisors assigned to you. We will do our utmost best to consider your preferred assignment when allocating assignments. However, we cannot guarantee that you will receive the assignment of your choice.

Step 4

After you have been informed by the coordinator about the assignment you can contact your supervisor to schedule the first meeting.
