Development of a European Higher Education Sector Observatory

The European Higher Education Sector Observatory (EHESO) is a key action stemming from the European Strategy for Universities (ES4U). The EHESO will focus on the policy monitoring of the objectives of the European Strategy for Universities.

Summary

The project will create an integrated data system building on European transparency tools such as ETER, U-Multirank, and EUROSTUDENT. The legacy of ETER and U-Multirank will help us to conceptualize and create tools for different target groups: A European Scoreboard to monitor HE policies, a benchmarking tool for universities to compare their performances against competitors, and an information tool for students interested in studying in Europe. The data infrastructure and tools will offer major benefits for the European Higher Education Area and European universities.

Partners

The project officially started on 1 December 2023. The consortium involves five partner organisations: PPMI as lead partner, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Joanneum Research, CHE Centre for Higher Education, and the University of Twente (CHEPS – the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies). The project team met for its kick-off meeting in Vienna on 1 and 2 February 2024.
