TechMed Summer Event Health, Well-being and Technology

This morning we started the workweek with the TechMed Summer Event. The domain Health, Well-being and Technology organized a well attended meeting with six excellent presentations by researchers within this domain.

Sabine Siesling kicked of the meeting with a short pitch focused on the mission of the domain. Timon Fabius explained his study on the development of novel diagnostic approaches to detect sleep apneu. Li Minsi told the audience about the reaction of the Chinese government and people to the Chinese vaccination crisis of 2018, and Derya Demirtas talked about the role of optimization in health care.

After the break the session continued with a talk by Anke Lenferink on ways to support self-management in COPD, Deniece Nazareth explained her study on recognizing emotions in people with dementia and finally Marissa van Maanen talked about developing and validating prediction models using population based on cancer registry data.

Prof. dr. Ariana Need closed the session by emphazising the wide array of research that is done within the domain of Health, Well-being and Technology, but also its common goal of improving the quality of health care for individual patients and society. The session was moderated by Thomas van Rompay and Janine van Til.
