A duty to recontact patients to inform them of new genetic discoveries?

Recently in Nature Reviews Genetics (April, 1 2019) Giesbertz, van Harten en Bredenoord published a comment on the need for a policy whether to contact patients again to inform them of new genetic discoveries that may have relevance to their health. This publication is part of the TANGO project. TANGO focuses on a wide evaluation of DNA analyses techniques, including whole genome sequencing, in oncology. Legal and ethical aspects regarding ‘duty to recontact’ are evaluated. Prof. Dr. Wim van Harten coordinates the Health Technology Assessment activities in this project. The publication in Nature can be found here.
