Advancing Psychological Treatments for Better Mental Health
Improving the effectiveness of psychological treatments is one of the key challenges in mental health care. At the Positive Clinical Psychology Lab, we focus on two innovative approaches: dual treatment and personalized interventions.
Dual treatment is a flexible approach based on our Model of Sustainable Mental Health, integrating both symptom-focused and strength-based (group-)interventions. Strength-based strategies, such as Positive Psychology Interventions, foster psychological functioning and the ability to adapt by enhancing compassion, meaning, joy, and connectedness—even in the presence of persisting mental health challenges.
Personalized interventions ensure that individuals receive the right treatment at the right moment, tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. Using ecological momentary assessments, we develop and examine adaptive interventions that respond to real-time data. Our research explores how digital technologies—including apps, virtual reality, and machine learning—can enhance personalization and improve mental health support in daily life.
Through these innovations, we strive to make psychological treatments more effective, sustainable, and impactful.
