The Human Factors and Cognition group at CoDE is a leading research team on cognition, performance, and collaboration in complex socio-technical systems. We focus on current and emerging applications in automotive and transportation systems, medical and healthcare systems, and the digital society.
Our mission is to lead and support the development of safe, reliable, resilient, sustainable, and usable systems that enable a trustworthy human-system interaction.
With our global network, we are aiming to achieve this mission with the following activities:
- Drive societal, environmental, and industrial transformation through data-driven human factors and cognition research and human-centered methodologies.
- Conduct research on cognition and human behavior in interaction with complex systems—including processes, services, and tools—guided by fundamental principles of cognition, ergonomics, and design.
- Model underlying cognitive processes like perception, attention, memory, and cognitive control that impact decision-making, human experience, learning performance, and skill development, aimed at optimizing cognitive and skill-related factors across the lifespan.
