VIDI project "Teleportation on a chip"

In July 2007, the Dutch Organisation for Research (NWO) has granted a VIDI contract in order to study the possibility of electron teleportation on a chip by means of superconducting electron entanglers and spin-polarized beam splitters. See also the news item at the FOM website. The experiments are scheduled for the period 2008-2013.

Entanglement in superconducting structures

Superconducting Cooper pairs form a quantum spin singlet state. Therefore, a superconductor can be the ideal source of entangled electrons. After locally separating the entangled electrons, spin filtering or manipulation can take place in spin-polarized beam splitters.
