Starting in October 2011, Vinod Subramaniam (Nanobiophysics) will give several lectures as the holder of the “Zukunftskolleg Gastprofessorship” at the University of Konstanz in Germany. The Zukunftskolleg at the University of Konstanz is part of Germany’s Excellence initiative, and offers ‘distinguished young post-doctoral researchers from all over the world ideal conditions for advancing their research in a creative atmosphere and an interdisciplinary, intercultural and intergenerational community’.

The Zukunftskolleg award ‘recognizes outstanding scientific achievement and commitment to promoting junior researchers’. Prof. Subramaniam will take part in the Zukunftskolleg’s special initiative to ‘develop new fields of research and initiate long-term cooperative projects.’ Together with Dr. Malte Drescher at the University of Konstanz, Prof. Subramaniam will supervise a joint PhD student funded by the state of Baden-Württemburg.
