Alberto Juan was born in Ciudad Real (Spain) and studied Chemistry at the University of Castilla La-Mancha (Spain). After awarding his Bachelor degree, in 2004, he moved to the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), where he focused his research on the synthesis of organometallic catalysts. Later, from September 2006 to September 2008, he joined to the NMR-Lab as an NMR-technician and from October 2008 to July 2009, he worked on the synthesis and characterization of polymers.
In September 2010 he obtained his Master degree in Green Chemistry at the University of Castilla La-Mancha (Spain), based on the characterization and quantification of the olive oil´s components by NMR. From January 2011 to December 2013, he performed his PhD within the Marie Curie Programme (FP7) at the University of Castilla La-Mancha (Spain), focused on the modification of a commercial NMR probe with radiofrecuency microcoils for the on-line and "in situ" monitoring of photochemical and microwave-assisted processes of mass and volume limited range. He also studied the self-assembly of a metal helicate by CH‐π interactions using Diffusion NMR and DFT.
From June 2014 to December 2015, he joined to the Ultrasense NMR project leaded at Radboud University, The Netherlands, as postdoctoral researcher, involved in the synthesis of polarizing agents for rapid melt DNP.
Since February 2016, he works as postdoctoral researcher at University of Twente, The Netherlands, and is responsible to scientifically support the science conducted on the NMR equipment at BNT & MNF, the analysis of complex organic compound mixtures from biomass conversion and the elucidation of (bio)organic and supramolecular systems.
