In January 2008, he received his master degree in Physical Chemistry (Diplom Chemiker). In his master project he deposited multiple substances on one sensor by Microcontact Printing, enabling high-throughput screening in the system of Imaging SPR-Ellipsometry. The work was carried out in the group of Prof. Dr. Klaus Meerholz at the Physical Chemistry Department of the University of Cologne.
Since March 2008, he is a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jurriaan Huskens at the University of Twente.
