Research

Development of oxygen sensor for measuring the activity of embryos

Yawar Abbas received his MSc. degree in microsystem engineering, University of Freiburg, Germany (2011). He worked on the development of an active microfluidic mixer in a PDMS chip using Braille pin actuator, under the supervision of Prof. Roland Zengerle, University of Freiburg. Then he did his PhD at the BIOS group, University of Twente, The Netherlands (2015) under the supervision of Prof. Albert van den Berg with thesis titled: in-situ measurement of chloride ion concentration in concrete. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher at the DBE group, where he is working with dr. Séverine Le Gac on the development of oxygen sensor for measuring the activity of embryos. His research focuses on lab-on-a-chip devices for environmental and biomedical applications.
