Federico Lancia was born in Rome on December 31st 1990. He pursued his Bachelor degree in Chemistry at “La Sapienza” University of Rome in 2012. During his bachelor research project he studied the hydration of aromatic terminal alkynes promoted by iron salts under the supervision of Dr. Mauro Bassetti. He received his Master degree in Catalysis and Green Chemistry in 2015 at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, his thesis was entitled “Redox controlled photon emission in polymer film” and was carried out under the supervision of professor Wesley R. Browne at the Stratingh Institute for Chemsitry.
In April 2015 Federico started his PhD in the Biomolecular Nanotechnology group under the supervision of Prof. Nathalie H. Katsonis. The aim of his project is to harness the special properties of photo-responsive liquid crystals systems upon confinement in three dimensions.
