Fit50+

The University of Twente attaches great importance to the health of its staff. Considering the increase of the pensionable age it is important that you remain healthy and full of vitality. In order to anticipate this development the UT has, in collaboration with the Sports Centre and Human Resource, created an offer for staff aged 50 and older. Over 100 employees participated in this project in 2015. The evaluation shows that the program was perceived as very pleasant and therefore Fit50 + will be continued in 2016.

The new program is based on the results of the evaluation of 2015. We have tried to fit the interests and preferences of the staff members that participated as much as possible.

TAI CHI

The attention and energy that the daily life costs on mental and physical level is the last decade increased sharply. The result is that human beings are increasingly difficult to preserve the balance in his life with in many cases result in health problems!

 

Tai chi helps peoples body and mind to relax so that the energy attitude gets the chance to get in balance with the result that every body cell is fed with the right amount of energy. Tai chi carries on this way to a society with healthy people who energetic stand in life.

Threads in which theory and practice are covered include: 
• Basics 
• Tai Chi breathing techniques 
• Massage techniques 
• Nutritional recommendations 

Exercise lesson can be followed without footwear (bare feet/Socks) or indoor shoes.

Tennis
Tuesday 12.30-13.30hr start: 1 March
Tuesday 18.15-19.15hr
start: 2 February

 

Tennis belongs in the age group 50+ in the most practiced sports. During this hour, you will work on your condition and technique.

Please note:

The tennis of 12.30 is only Fit50 +

The tennis of 18.15 is a beginners class with a mix of Fit50 +, students and staff

This is a fitness hour with the guidance of an experienced physiotherapist or fitness coach (individually or in a group) .The training focuses on the personal goals you want to achieve. Do you have physical problems and you want to sport with a professional coach? This is a perfect opportunity.

 

Lunch walk

The lunch break is an perfect opportunity to stretch your legs together with colleagues. Lunch walking is a activity with a low intensity at the beautiful Campus of the University.

 

Yoga en meditation

Tuesday

Dojo at the Sports Centre

 

Yin yoga focusses on making our joints more flexible. It is a meditative form that gives space to the body in broadest sense. Yin yoga positions are exercised in a passive, yet intense way, and each positions is being held on quite long (between 2 and 5 minutes). In this way the connective tissue will be stretched and stimulated, instead of the muscles.
