Master Programme Sustainable Energy Technology (SET) 2016-2017

The master programme SET is divided in two years. In the first year, students follow courses. In most cases, these courses include a practical part in which the acquired knowledge is applied. In the first semester, courses deal with knowledge homologation of students with different backgrounds. Also system thinking and the key concepts regarding energy sources, supply and consumption are introduced.

The courses in the second semester provide advanced knowledge. In addition, students apply the knowledge in projects. These projects include a systems approach and the typical engineering and social science approaches. Interdisciplinary cooperation is a major goal.

The major part of the second year focusses on research and/or design. Elective courses make it possible to acquire further in-depth knowledge which is necessary to effectively carry out the graduation project. Students can choose their MSc.-assignment in several theme areas, such as Solar Energy, Wind energy, Biomass, Hydrogen, Intelligent electricity networks or Transition policy. 1 Depending on your bachelor courses you may have to replace these courses by homologation or specialization courses.

2 The first week of the year is an introduction week in which an overview is given of the master programme and introductory lectures on the core courses. The week also includes an excursion. The lectures start in the second quartile.

3 The System Integration Project is 15 EC, the internship has a study load of 20 EC. In combination with an internship, the Graduation Project is 40 EC. In combination with a System Integration Project, the Graduation Project is 45 EC. HBO students will most likely have to do the Integration Projects instead of an internship, depending on their background.
