Prof. Dr. Stan Bentvelsen is a professor and researcher at the University of Amsterdam (UVA). As a physicist, he is also an employee of CERN (Geneva), the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. "Higgs and other elementary particles - research at CERN" will serve the general theme of this course.

1994 - 2000: CERN fellow en CERN staf. Onderzoek van het Standaard Model met elektron-positron bij de LEP versneller op CERN
2000 - 2004: Nikhef staf. Voorbereiding ATLAS experiment bij de LHC
2004 - heden: Hoogleraar aan de UvA. Top-quarks en Higgs fysica met proton-proton botsingen bij de LHC.
2004 - 2012: Programmaleider van het ATLAS experiment in Nederland.
2014 - heden: Directeur Nikhef samenwerkingsverband.
