Nationalism in the EU
Several nationalist parties figured in the EU elections in May 2014. Marine le Pen’s Front National in France, the Dansk Folkeparti in Denmark, and Geert Wilders’Partij voor de Vrijheid in the Netherlands. Isn’t it a paradox that nationalist parties are joining the EU parliament with the intention of abolishing it? Is this nationalism a threat to the idea of the European community or is the EU stable enough to withstand it?
