In the beginning of September Blackboard suffered from performance problems. Therefore, our supplier Blackboard Managed Hosting has taken additional measures to prevent any further problems with the Blackboard environment. This has resulted in a good and stable performance. However, the cause of the problems wasn't discovered yet, so behind the scenes the company Blackboard was still investigating the issue.
Mid-October they concluded that one of the building blocks probably caused the problems (a building block is software from a third party that is integrated into Blackboard). Therefore the code of the building block was improved and the new version was installed soon afterwards. The temporary 'band-aids' were then removed step by step and since last week Blackboard is running in the normal configuration again, without any problems. So we can conclude that the performance problems are definitively solved now.
