Borrow books

To find a book and check if is available to University of Twente staff and students perform a search in FindUT. Items labeled ‘Held by University of Twente’ are either part of the digital or physical collection of te university.

• When the ‘View’ button (e.g. ‘View full text’ or ‘View PDF’) is shown, an item can be accessed online.
• When ‘Available’ is shown, an item can be borrowed from our physical book collection. Click on its title, and click on ‘Request item’ on the item-specific page.

By default, you only see literature that University of Twente staff and students have direct access to. Check 'Libraries Worldwide' or ‘Libraries in the Netherlands’ on the left side of the screen to browse literature outside our collection.

When ‘Libraries Worldwide’ or ‘Libraries in te Netherlands’ is shown, an item is not in our collection. Options for retrieving these items can be found under ‘Library links’ > ‘Options’ in the upper right corner of the screen. Among them is requesting an item via the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) form.

In the process of requesting a book you can choose a location where you'd like to pick up the item. Please pick up the requested item there, after you have received an email notification about its delivery.

The loan period of books you borrow from the University Library is one month. This loan period will automatically be renewed five times, provided there are no reservations by others. After your loan period has been renewed five times, you will receive an email notification. You can check the status of your borrowed items on your personal account in FindUT.
