RESULT

You are able to search for and record academic information, making optimal use of current (technological) possibilities, for research and education purposes.

CONTENT

Systematically searching for information, formulating a problem statement, knowledge and choice of (referring, informing) sources, writing references and reference managers (plus optional workshops on Endnote), search methods and techniques, citation indexes, scholarly publishing (the use of Internet and the UT-repository), citation analysis, and data management. These subjects are first treated in general, later focused on the particular search statement of the participant

 DURATION AND TIME INVESTMENT

2 plenary sessions including a workshop on Endnote OR Mendeley and home-study, followed by individual coaching by your Information Specialist. The plenary sessions take 4 hours each, plus around 10 hours home-study. The Endnote and Mendeley Workshops take 2 hours each.

The studyload for this course is equivalent to 1 ECTS
