Lecturers / (assistant) professors with teaching tasks who have limited to medium teaching experience and want to improve their practical teaching skills.
PhD candidates are advised to register for the Taste-of-teaching
This course is closely related to UTQ competence 2: Teaching and supervising
After this course you can:
- adequately perform those teaching activities relevant for you (e.g. lecturing, leading group discussions, tutorials)
- explain the importance of activating students in student learning
- explain and use different activating teaching methods
- critically observe your own and others’ teaching activities and give useful suggestions for improvement
Vision on teaching and learning; activating student learning; try out of own lecture or assignment; giving and receiving feedback.
Preparation: assignments, record own lecture or prepare part of lecture, readings.
In course: short assignments, show own teaching, discussions.

10 hrs (3 x afternoon) + 6 hrs of preparation
