OMD’s Week of Methods and Statistics, 26-30 June 2017

OMD’s course week is organized to introduce more advanced and novel statistical methods to BMS’s faculty members. It will be an opportunity to get acquainted with modern statistical methods and software. Below a preliminary program is shown. More information will follow.

Day 1, 26 June: Introduction into R. Lecturers Stephanie van den Berg and Martin Schmettow

Day 2, 27 June: Bayesian Statistical Modeling. Lecturer Jean-Paul Fox

Day 3, 28 June: Advanced (Bayesian) Statistical Modeling. Lecturer Jean-Paul Fox

Day 4, 29 June: Bayesian Evaluation of Informative Hypotheses. Lecturer: Irene Klugkist.

Day 5, 30 June: Text Mining. Lecturer Bernard Veldkamp.

Day 6, 3 July: Missing Data. Lecturer Karin Groothuis.

Day 7, 4 July: Time Series. Lecturer.

The software programs OpenBUGS and R/Rstudio (available via Zenworks) will be introduced and used in the practical sessions. The practical sessions will focus on standard applications but the opportunity will be given to get further acquainted with Bayesian modeling software.

To take active part in the practical session, you need to bring your own laptop with OpenBugs ( and R ( installed. Some will prefer to work with RStudio (
