Harry van der Kaap (1959) is assistant professor at the department of Political Science and Research Methods (POLMT) at the University of Twente.
He studied Sociology with a major in Research methods of the social sciences and Statistics at the University of Groningen (RUG). After his study in 1986 he worked till 1991 at the faculty of Public Administration at the University of Twente. From 1992 till 2001 he was a lecturer at the school for Journalism and Communication at the Windesheim (School for Professional Education in Zwolle), teaching Research and Sociology. During the years 1992 till 1997 he also worked as part-time lecturer at the Bestuursacademie Oost-Nederland (in association with the Open University).
From 2001 he is working for the Faculty of Behavioural, Management & Social Sciences at the University of Twente, where he defended his dissertation Political representation and local democracy in 2006.
