Short bio

After graduating in Physics at the University of Groningen I started teaching physics and mathematics at Maartenscollege based in Haren. In 1990 I moved to the University of Twente working on applications of ICT in Higher Education, project based learning and professional development. In 2001 I finished my phD thesis on group-based learning using ICT. Since 2004 I work as a physics teacher trainer at ELAN. In the period 2010-2014 I was Director of Education of the teacher training programs at ELAN working closely together with the schools in our region.

I engaged in national discussions on the future of teacher training programs who now are moving towards lifelong partnerships with schools and alumni. Since 2014 the three Dutch technical universities have decided to join their expertise with regard to innovations in Engineering Education. This resulted in our new Centre for Engineering Education.
