Mark Timmer has a Bachelor’s degree in Telematics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Twente. He did a PhD in Formal Methods & Tools and defended his thesis, titled “Efficient Modelling, Generation and Analysis of Markov Automata”, in 2013 (cum laude). In the meantime, in 2011, he got a degree in teaching by means of the Master’s programme Science Education and Communication.
Mark has been a mathematics teacher at Carmel College Salland in Raalte since 2012, heading the mathematics group since 2014. As of 2015, he also works for ELAN as a mathematics teacher trainer. In addition, he is one of the editors of the Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde.
At ELAN, Mark teaches the mathematics didactics courses (Introduction to Mathematics Teaching Methodology, Mathematics Teaching Methodology 1 and Mathematics Teaching Methodology 2). Additionally, he is involved in the courses Design Studio, Mathematics Teaching Practice and the Educational Research Project.
