I work as an educational scientist at the MATCH-project of ELAN, the Department of Teacher Development at the University of Twente. In the MATCH-project we do research into differentiation in the field of mathematics in primary education. We try to get answers to questions like: ‘’What is differentiation?’’ and ‘’What characterizes primary school teachers who are experts in differentiating?’’, with the ultimate goal of training primary school teachers in differentiated teaching. In order to connect as closely as possible to the context of the teacher, the final training will consist of several variants. Within the project, I help to develop the training and eventually I will be going to train the participating teachers.
In July 2013, I completed the Academic Primary School Teacher Training at Saxion Hogeschool in Deventer. After that, I started with my master in Educational Science and Technology. During this master, I worked as a student assistant at the Focus-project and I have done research on the effects of differentiated instruction on the math results of students in primary education. After finishing the master in September 2014, I first worked full-time as a primary school teacher at OBS Brookschole in Markelo for two and a half years. Looking for more challenge on an academic level, I started my work at the University of Twente in August 2017. In addition, I am still teaching in Markelo on Mondays, where I also perform educational tasks to support the school principal.
