Teacher Educator Mathematics

Tom Coenen studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente. He did a PhD in the group Stochastic Operations Research in the field of Telecommunication networks, with his dissertation named “Modeling the impact of interference on wireless ad hoc network performance”. In 2012 he completed the first degree in teaching by completing the study Science Education and Communication at the UT.
From 2007 till 2009 he worked as a teacher at the faculty Management and Governance at the University of Twente, after which he made the step to secondary education. Since 2010 he works at CSG Reggesteyn in Nijverdal as a math teacher and since 2015 as teacher educator at ELAN.

At ELAN he teaches mathematics didactics courses (Introduction to Mathematics Teaching Methodology, Mathematics Teaching Methodolody 1&2). Additionally, he is involved in the courses Design Studio, Mathematics Teaching Practice and the Educational Research Project.
