11 September 2013: Simon Huisman receives doctorate

As first ANP PhD student Simon Huisman successfully defended his PhD thesis, entitled "Light Control with Ordered and Disordered Nanophotonic Media". His research was carried out under supervision of ANP director Pepijn Pinkse and the chairs of the participating groups Complex Photonic Systems (COPS) and Optical Sciences (OS), Willem Vos and Jennifer Herek, respectively. As PhD student, Simon did research on ordered and disordered nanophotonic structures such as photonic crystals, waveguides and random scattering media and was able to finish in about three and a half years. His work so far resulted in 6 peer-refereed publications among which two Physical Review Letters. Simon will be affiliated with ANP for a few more months as postdoc.
