Off-campus access to library content

When searching for literature, you need to be recognized as a UT member to see what you can access through the UT. On campus, you will automatically be recognized. When off campus, it is important that you always access the databases, for example Scopus, through the digital library. You will then be redirected through the proxy server, and be recognized as a UT member. You simply log in with your UT account.

Have you already found the content that you were looking for? Then you can use the UT off-campus access button. This button lets you access full-text resources without having to visit the university library website first. The button identifies you as a University of Twente student or staff member. You can save the button in your browser.

N.B. You will no longer need a 'Library VPN' connection when you are off campus. You can still use it for the time being, but the service will eventually stop.

Using the off-campus access button, an example

In this example, we would like to get the full text of this paper:
http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.foodres.2016.06.016

Open the link in your Internet browser.

You are currently not recognized as a UT member, so you will only find the option to purchase the PDF of the article.

Click on the off-campus access button.

A UT login screen appears. Log in with your ICT-account number that starts with m or s as username, and the password that you created yourself.

The article page will change: You will also see the option to download the PDF for free. If not, click on the off-campus access button again.
