PrOmO, dealing with the risk of flooding.

The transition from a risk prevention to a full risk management approach. That is the aim of the new Dutch water management policy, which is in compliance with EU guidelines. The full risk management approach implies explicit focus on the consequences of potential flooding and flood disaster management. It also implies that the citizen will play a different role in water risk management than in the current, rather closed policy making processes. Risk perception and communication become important issues in water risk management.

In the PROMO project this transition is studied from several scientific disciplines (technical sciences, policy science, communication and social psychology, and economics). The project itself also highlights a transition by its strong focus on interdisciplinary cooperation.

In this project, our research partners are Deltares, Technische Universiteit Delft, TNO Bouw en Ondergrond, HKV Lijn in Water and ITC. The project has an own website.
