16 nov: Twente R User Group (TRUG) Meeting Finally! Our next meeting will take place on 16 November (Monday) at 12 o’clock in the Cubicus building, room C124. Elze Ufkes will give a presentation on the analysis of twitter data. We hope to see you then! NEW: Dutch National Data Portal This portal provides an overview of (and access to) all available datasets provided by government organisations in the Netherlands. 17-21 aug: summerschool survey research This course covers the essentials of modern survey methodology and analysis and is focused on Design, Implementation and Data Processing. The course is organized by the Department of Methodology and Statistics of Utrecht University in collaboration with Statistics Netherlands (CBS). 22 May: Conference 'Supporting Health by Technology VI' 2015 The IGS-Center for eHealth Research (Department of Psychology, Health & Technology (PHT), UT) and the department of Health Psychology (UMCG/RUG) cordially invite you to join the 6th ‘Supporting Health by Technology’ conference in the Grolsch Veste, Enschede. 20 April: SIKS/Twente Data Science Colloquium Twente Data Science is a collaboration between research groups of the University of Twente to research, promote and facilitate big data analysis for all scientific disciplines. We operate by sharing expertise, ideas, our research infrastructure for big data analysis and - of course - by sharing our data. The Data Science colloquia are kindly sponsored by the Netherlands Research School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS) and part of the SIKS educational program. SIKS PhD students are strongly encouraged to participate. 16 April: Kick-off 3TU Humans and Technology You are cordially invited to join us on April 16 the kick off meeting of the new 3TU Centre for Humans and Technology, which will be held in the DesignLab at the University of Twente. 23-24 March: PLS Path Modeling using SmartPLS 3 This two-day seminar provides a profound introduction to PLS path modeling. Participants will learn how to apply PLS path modeling by means of the SmartPLS 3 software. The instructors will make use of several SmartPLS examples and exercises. UT member are entitled to a 40% discount on the course fee, which can be obtained by contacting Prof. Dr. Jörg Henseler (Faculty of Engineering Technology). 16 March: Symposium "Data engineering for data science: Challenges and opportunities", Eindhoven Data science is an emerging research area concerned with extracting knowledge and value from data. Data engineering is an established research area concerned with data intensive systems and algorithms, e.g., practical solutions for Big Data. Data engineering is a core discipline of data science, and as such is facing many new challenges, both in leveraging existing techniques in the context of classical data analytics, as well as in developing new techniques for the novel types of analytics that have become possible because of increased data storage and processing capabilities. 10 March: Symposium Open Access, TU Eindhoven Interest in open access is increasing steadily, and news media are paying more and more attention to the subject. Development of open science in the Netherlands is being followed both nationally and internationally. Open access, research data management and open science are much debated topics among politicians, research funders as well as publishers. 25 Feb: Twente R User Group (TRUG) meeting The February meeting has been rescheduled to 25 February, 12 o’clock in the Cubicus room C124. Sukaesi Marianti will give a presentation on the estimation of growth models in R. 12-13 Feb: Atlas.ti Jeanine Evers, from Evers Research & Training, is offering a set of courses in ATLAS.ti this semester. The next courses for novices are scheduled for February 12th and 13th. After that, there is an advanced course (taught by Dr. Susanne Friese) scheduled for April the 23rd and 24th. 26 Jan: Delft Data Science New Year Event 2015 Big Data Analytics for Cyber Situational Awareness. With a rich program consisting of a keynote given by an international expert, guest lectures, masterclasses and a poster & demo market we will take you into the world of big data and hacking, botnets and privacy enhancing technology.
