Negotiating and Individual coachingsessions
Based on the requests of our members in January, the Female Faculty Network Twente kindly invites you to the workshop and follow-up individual coaching:
on March 24, 13.30-16.30 hrs (incl. lunch)
Individual coaching sessions
on April 14, 11.00-17.30 hrs
by prof. Tineke Willemsen and John Visser
In Drienerburght, room 3
The under-representation of women in the higher levels of academia is brought about by different factors. Historical, cultural and socio-psychological factors all play a role, while women influence their own career opportunities to a considerable extent as well. Being heard and noticed and ensuring that superiors reward their efforts can facilitate the promotion. Effective negotiation is part and parcel of this process. The objective of the workshop is to discuss specific aspects which are important for female academics in negotiating and to practise negotiating in a simulated real-life setting. Based on individual needs after the initial workshop we will offer each participant to discuss her own situation in depth with a coach in the individual follow-up coaching session.
Workshop Program on March 24
13.30 Introduction to negotiating
Focus on specific aspects for female academics
14.15 1 or 2 small exercises in pairs
14.45 A couple of role plays with a training actor in the role of boss
Individual coaching sessions April 14
The coaching sessions will take place from 11.00 until 17.30 hrs. Each participant will have an individual coach session of 45 minutes based on individual needs.
The workshop and the coaching sessions will be carried out by Prof. Tineke Willemsen and John Visser (see www.bhertz.nl ).
Tineke Willemsen is an emeritus professor of Gender Studies of the University of Tilburg and former board member of the Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren (the Dutch National Network of Women Professors). John Visser is a senior training actor and coach.
