The Female Faculty Network Twente is inviting you to the International Women’s Day  lecture:

After the commercial success of the book French women don't get fat, Ellen de Bruins publisher asked her if she could write a Dutch version with a similarly alliterating title: Dutch women don't get depressed - that isn't true either. De Bruin thought that was a funny idea, but where to start? Being a Dutch women herself, she had no idea what characteristics Dutch women actually possess. People from other countries did have their ideas about Dutch women. But are Dutch women as sturdy as they seem, when biking through the rain against the wind with kids and shoppings on the bike? Are they really as independent as they seem to be, never needing a helping hand, especially not from a man? Are they entrepreneurs, very practical, broadminded, modern, and not to be fooled by anybody? Or are they rude, naive, bossy at home but not very liberated when it comes to work - and in possession of a certain natural beauty but not knowing how to dress? After thorough research, Ellen de Bruin found out how Dutch women really are, and she will share her insights with us.

CV: Ellen de Bruin has her PhD in social psychology, but found out while doing experiments that she prefers to write about other people's research. That is why she ended up at the science section of NRC Handelsblad, where she is working now. Dutch women don't get depressed is her first book.
